Smart Distiller Robot

Which problem are you trying to solve?

The problem that I try to resolve is the difficulty of primitive and inefficient distillers of aromatic herbs and plants
used in Tunisia as a remedy in food and medical issues

How are you going to solve the problem?

To solve the designed problem, I try to replace the old mechanism by a new one more sophisticated based on Fuzzy Logic
Control.

What is the impact of your project?

To obtain essential oils and aromatic waters from plants and herbs with high quality, we offer a great service to health
field, food aromas and biological consumption.

How can the project be manufactured in the OpenLab?

The project can be manufactured in the OpenLab by offering the system control based on a microcontroller or a computer
and making electrical heat resistance and condensing unit to link the whole.

Describe your project in detail

Tunisia is a country well-known by distillation of aromatic plants like Citrus, Thyme, Rosa Canina, Wild Rose,... to
obtain aromatic waters or/and essential oils used in food and medicine preparation needs. Until now, distillation
process is a manual hard work, requiring time, accuracy, continuous supervision, mechanical and electrical energies...
To solve these painful problems, an intelligent system is proposed to put work self-acting, to improve precision and
product quality, and to reduce distinctly energies consumption. The novel distiller has the capability to treat all
types of herbs. It is composed of three principle parts :The first part is an intelligent closed-loop for an electrical
heater to reach desired value of temperature for the water boiling in a special conic flask placed above the heater. The
conic flask is divided into two floors, the bottom floor is reserved to water, and the top one is occupied by one kind
of aromatic herbs. The second part is an other intelligent closed-loop applied to a condensing unit to cool the water
vapour and to prevent temperature increasing in the output tube. The third part is the collecting flask where aromatic
water stayed down and essential oil remains at the top, a nanoseparation is introduced in this flask to separate
properly the oil to water.

Distilling with fuzzy logic? That sounds interesting... Do you have some more details on the design? Hard to imagine
from the scematics...
the distilling process is as old as mankind... can you elaborate more on the innovative part you
suggest? Where do you apply fuzzy approaches?

Fuzzy control is an intelligent control based on fuzzy rules theory deduced from system expertise. If any system is
well-known, a rule-base is determined to describe the best optimal operating for the heating or freezing components. So,
the resulted process is more efficient, rapid and optimal. Also, it can be autonomous and less energies consumed.

A wonderful idea ... and what is distinguished by the small size of the design, which is easy to transfer .. In the
future can work the treatment of more than one plant at a time with the possibility of mixing them together

The ecological impact related to the decreased CO2 emission is great. Did you also recognized a better quality of the
oils in comparison to the primitive distillers? (How did you measure it?)

Cool but how fast and efficient do you think this would be in case of urgent need.
