Solar panel Dust Cleaning Robot

over 7 years ago by Wafalothman

Which problem are you trying to solve?

solar panel efficiency in dusty weather

How are you going to solve the problem?

solving the problem by implementing a robot that cleans the dust on a solar panel automatically

What is the impact of your project?

reduce the blocking spots in the solar panel caused by the dust, which will keep the efficiency of the solar panels
higher.

How can the project be manufactured in the OpenLab?

two main parts; the robot, and the frame. the frame will carry the solar panels. the robot is the cleaning tool that
will go through the panel to clean.

Describe your project in detail

the project consists of two parts; the robot, and the frame. the robot is the cleaning tool that will go through the
panels. the frame will carry the solar panels and the robot. there will be three ways to run the process. manually by
choosing specific panel through an application. the other two ways either by the dust sensor or a timer specified by the
user. after that the process of cleaning will start cleaning.

can you add more details on how your project is going to work!! how the robots going to get on the panels and how is
this process going to be monitored!

Great idea ... It is also possible to have the panels on a layer of material that prevents the accumulation of dust and
facilitate the work of the robot in the removal of dust

Have you choosen the way how to clean the panels yet? Water? or to sweep the panels? I think this work will depends of
the weather, for example the robot could save water, if it make the cleaning on rainy days.

What a project!
My colleague did a similar project in the university and it was really challenging. If you wish I can
forward you some open files from that project.
