e-toilet

Which problem are you trying to solve?

Studies have found dangerous strains on toilet seats, including antibiotic-resistant staphylococcus (one of several
“flesh-eating bacteria”)and E. coli; e-toilet stops this once and for all!

How are you going to solve the problem?

e-toilet is a smart toilet specially designed to maintain very high hygienic standards in public bathrooms using an
integrated monitoring system that doesn't interfere with privacy.

What is the impact of your project?

It will stop the bad actions done by people inside the public bathrooms like drugs and painting, and will maintain very
high hygienic standards in the bathroom so everyone can comfortably use it.

How can the project be manufactured in the OpenLab?

toilets are everywhere, we only need to make the sensors and the processing system; Which will need programming,
electronics, soldering and maybe 3D-printing.

Describe your project in detail

e-toilet
It’s a smart public bathroom to always provide a clean and comfortable service.
Ever wanted to use a
bathroom so bad in a public place but the public bathroom was dirty and not suitable for human use?
Well, that’s the
inspiration behind my idea, public bathrooms are the perfect place for drugs, dirty acts, and so on. But why? Because no
one sees you while in there. And that’s the problem. What is the solution? cameras ? NO privacy should be maintained.

e-toilet solves the problem with an integrated system of sensors to detect specific types of gasses, humidity, motion,
water flow, wetness.
with e-toilet we can monitor what happens without touching your privacy. How?
you enter the
bathroom, it hands you a pair of gloves and lets you in, next, as soon as you step inside the bathroom the door is
closed and locked behind you, yes you are trapped! You continue to use the bathroom and finish your stuff. Once you are
done and about to leave, the sensors will detect
1- if you flushed behind you
2-if you closed the tap
3- if the floor
is dry
4-if no gasses are detected (gasses found in paint, cigarettes)
5- if everything is as it was before you came in.

Everything is fine? door is unlocked and you are free to go. Anything is wrong, the system will automatically call for
help.
--FUTURE visions
• The system can also be energy sustainable if provided with solar panels as the energy
consumption of the system is very low.
• It could work as a vending machine to make some profit and cover the running
costs.
-HARDWARE needed
• Arduino micro controllers
• Sensors (humidity, gas, water flow, water level,
IR)
• Piston door lock
• GSM device

A nice idea, but you should note the point that the public accepts the idea of being confined in the bathroom
until they are clean it... The toilet can be provided with a self-sensing system that can clean itself if it senses
that the person has finished using it ... Also the water faucet closes automatically when The person who uses it
finished... It is possible to put an alarm device when a person uses drugs

Generally interesting, because the quality of public toilets is unsufficient. But I would prefer a self-cleaning system,
too. I think the unlocking of the door must not be prohibited.

Yes, you detected a big problem!
But confine people in the toilet room is tricky i think. What if there is an emergency?
Or what is with people who have panic in small rooms? You should think about people who block the door to be shut
too...
But if you solve the toilet problem, most effort is justified :)
