Which problem are you trying to solve?
We are solving the problem of African farmers that could not afford to buy an electric mower not to talk of fuel to
power it, who therefore endangers their health through stressful farming.
How are you going to solve the problem?
We have designed the Manual Grass mower, which works with Mechanical energy to drive a set of pre-arranged blades,
without the need of electricity. Moreover it makes work faster without much stress.
What is the impact of your project?
This is really going to go wide as helping to reduce great dependence on fuel consuming mowers and it will help in
decreasing the of ill-health of farmers that provide our foods.
How can the project be manufactured in the OpenLab?
The gear system can purely be 3D printed including the body casing, except the cutting blades and the return spring. And
its all the way good to go!
Describe your project in detail
The manual Grass mower is made of a gear system that drives a set of pre-arranged blades swiftly, thereby cutting
grass without stress. It works on mechanical energy.The gear system is driven by a contraction force created by an
external pulling object that has been fixed a distance away from the machine. The puller is connected to the gear system
by a belt, which is turned round the driving gears.
How it Works!
Whenever an external force of push is effected by the
user on the machine, the driving belts that has been fixed on a fixed Tripod holder are pulled out of the wheels,on
which it has been wounded, thereby creating a rotational motion to the driving wheel which powers the primary gear
system, which is further enhanced by the secondary gear system to drive the movable cutting blade in an oscillatory
motion, to and fro,swiftly. Moreover the driving belt is drawn back into the MGM compartment by a return spring.
