Biodegradable flower pot

over 6 years ago by Trebor512

Which problem are you trying to solve?

Ordinary flower pots are usually after use thrown away or kept for other flowers and create a mess and and creates
environmental pollution.

How are you going to solve the problem?

Producing flower pots that can be decomposed in nature. Flower pots consist of PLA material are biodegradable in nature
and they are obtained from corn starch so it is not harmful to the environment.

What is the impact of your project?

The pots that we plant in the earth become degradable in nature and serve as:1. pots, 2. compost. Additionally, the
number of ordinary pots that were thrown into the environment would be reduced.

How can the project be manufactured in the OpenLab?

OpenLab could produce such PLA flower pots on a 3D printer according to my designs or
we can make a mold according to
this template.

Describe your project in detail

I've designed flower pots in SketchUp. Flower pots are made from PLA material that is made from corn starch and is
degradable in nature. PLA matrial is most commonly used for 3D printing and unlike ABS, PLA is not toxic, biodegradable
in nature, it is soluble at a lower temperature, ... In a flowerpot you can plant flowers by placing earth and flowers
in the pot. After a while the pot serves as compost for the flower. Flowers or other plants that you plant are treated
according to the conditions required for survival (temperature, humidity ...) of such plant species. Production process:
Designing in SketchUp -> Formatting G-Code in Cura -> printing on a 3D Printer.

Hello Trebor,
It would be great if you could also upload a picture of your project to your submission before the
submission closes. Thank you

please, can you point out, what is the advantage of your pots over some out of recycled paper? Are yours more durable?
Are yours for indoor flowers or more for sowing outdoor flowers? Thank you :)

Dear Sabine,
My flower pots are much firmer than paper flower pots and can be used for outdoor and indoor plants. :)

A nice idea ... I want to ask about the method of making the pots in the faplap .. Will you make a template that will
put the material for pot until it takes the shape of the mold or what? ... And for the cohesion of the material of the
pot will be added to the specific material for this goal??

Omarhasayn89,
Yes, we can make a mold according to this template and so produce these flower pots in FabLab.
