KODE

Which problem are you trying to solve?

We believe more kids should become engineers. Engineering is the most natural outlet for a curious child's mind and
here is how we approach the process of introducing a child to engineering

How are you going to solve the problem?

Imagine you can build your own computer in kit, thanks to Minecraft with Raspberry Pi and learning the programming in
passing! This is KODE, a computer kit for kids from 7 to 17 to learn engineering.

What is the impact of your project?

Our ambition is to help African youth getting soft skill, fostering their creativity and using technology to innovate
and build business to solve social problems.

How can the project be manufactured in the OpenLab?

KODE is a computer kit so all the components can be manufactured in a FabLab. Perfect for all small "makers"

Describe your project in detail

OBSERVATION :
Internet and digital are rightly considered as the fourth industrial revolution, not just because they are
one more technology, but because they fundamentally upset us in our way of producing and consuming. « Africa youth can
not miss this moment of history ».
If we want to provide meaningful and sustainability answers to the challenges of
youth unemployment and the creation of responsible and inclusive growth in our communities, it is urgent to accompany
these young people on the path of digital entrepreneurship, and very early, we must help them acquire the skills that
will stimulate their creativity and help them create their own opportunities.
Introducing young people to computational
thinking is a solution to youth unemployment and the skills gap in ICT
SOLUTION :
“Everybody in this country should
learn to program a computer, because it teaches you how to think” — Steve Jobs
KODE is an environment that helps
children learn computer programming, meet challenges and create new experiences. All in a playful way.
The goal of KODE
is to understand how a computer works, what components are needed to use it. For this, the child will build his own
computer, a plan is associated to explain step by step how to proceed.
KODE gives kids the tools they need to start
designing and implementing their own add-ons.
IMPACT :
Promoting ICT use among young learners; Providing children with
useful entertainment; Promoting a fun, intuitive and effective learning of computer science in our schools; Stimulating
the motivation, collaboration and creativity of Young Learners; Improving Critical Thinking of Young Learners.

A nice idea ... The participation of the student in the manufacture of a computer in a simple way will establish in
their mind the mechanism of computer work ... It is possible to start with them by manufacturing simple things such as
calculator and others and then gradation of the big things
